- Fat pressed from the nut of the West African shea tree, rich in oleic and stearic acids plus a small unsaponifiable fraction that makes it behave differently than a plain oil.
- Why it's in the formula
- It seals moisture into porous ends and softens skin without a plastic film. In a conditioner it does the heavy lifting that silicone usually fakes.
- Where it comes from
- Cold-pressed, unrefined-grade nut butter, cosmetic filtered so it melts clean instead of dragging.
- What to know
- Very well tolerated. It is a tree nut butter; skip it if you have a documented shea allergy.
