Bamboo Charcoal

Chunks of bamboo charcoal beside black charcoal powder

The reason it pours black and rinses clear.

Also known as: Charcoal powder · Bamboo charcoal powder

What it is
Bamboo charcoal powder: carbon from bamboo, heated until its surface becomes riddled with microscopic pores. That porous surface is what gives it adsorbency; one gram carries an enormous amount of surface area.
Why it's in the formula
It binds product build-up, excess oil, and grime by adsorption, then leaves with the rinse water. In our formulas it is the pigment and the mechanism at once; the color is the formula doing its job, not a dye added for drama.
Where it comes from
Bamboo carbon, cosmetic grade, milled fine enough to suspend in a wash rather than scratch.
What to know
Rinses clear off skin, tile, and towels. Keep it out of eyes; it is a cleanser, not a treatment to leave on.
